Quivera Chapter

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

Quivera is located in Fairbury and is in Nebraska's 3rd district.

Organized December 3, 1902

Charter Granted February 3, 1903

"Quivera" was selected because of its historical significance. Francisco Coronado and his Spanish band set out to find the city of untold wealth. They landed on Mexican shores and went up through Arizona and Colorado and then into Nebraska. One proof that they were in Nebraska is that they spoke of the Sioux Indians. On arriving in Nebraska, Coronado exclaimed, "Good tidings, Quivera lies at hand." Quivera means untold wealth.

If you should see your ancestors

All standing in a row

Would you be proud of them or not

Or don't you really know?

But here's another question which

Requires a different view

If you should meet your ancestors

Would they be proud of you?
